"Salespeak"

Roy F. Fox made a very strong point by saying when aren't we not exposed to advertising in today's society. All around us there are billboards, commercials, signs planted in the grass, banners, etc. written everywhere. We also get them through emails and text messages. My inbox is pretty much filled up by the end of the week by just advertisements. Roy F. Fox, a professor of education at the University of Missouri, argues that the line between advertising and education has become too blurred, that advertisers and advertising are not just becoming a common presence in our schools, but that the methods and goals of advertising are beginning to shape the curriculum in ways he finds both pervasive and disturbing. Advertising is started to control the world around us and seems to be well in control in the future. In knowing this, we, the people need to start broaden the way we see advertising and not let it make decisions for us in how we live our lives.

"Meet my 5,000 New Best Pals"

Brittnie Sarnes has so many friends just through MySpace. She seems so popular from the outside by getting and receiving these friend requests every day. She is so involved with this MySpace account, she's starting to become obsessed. What she doesn't realize how these random people are asking to be her friend and the fact that she doesn't know who they are can be a bad thing. I, myself used to have a MySpace account and have a facebook account now, which is the same as a MySpace. You should never accept a friend request from someone that you have absolutely no idea who they are. These people could be stalkers or people that may get to the point where they are obsessed. I'm not trying to scare anyone but you have to protect yourself because having one of these facebooks or myspace's puts your name out there and anyone who has access to internet can see you, your pictures, maybe where you live, and your friends. Someone could get hurt or even you could. Just try to be careful what you do, what you write, and who your friends are on facebook and/or myspace.
